In February, a massive fire broke out at the factory just across our farm. Thick, dark smoke filled the sky, and angry flames licked the air in the matter of minutes.
The local fire department sent their firefighters as soon as they could. The community scrambled to lend a helping hand: Some directed traffic for the firefighters, others helped salvage items from the factory, and offered food and drinks for the volunteers.
As we joined in frantically to assist wherever possible, we couldn’t help but feel a shiver down our spines. Every extra minute the fires raged, the closer they got to our farms. It seemed as if our hard work would go up in smoke. But it was not to be; our local heroes tamed the flames within an hour. It was a tough fight.
Last month, we paid a visit to the same team, Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Kapar to bring them fresh produce, and our endless gratitude.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all frontliners and public service employees for your tireless work and sacrifice in safeguarding our wellbeings. If you know of volunteers, frontliners, or public service employees who are looking for food contribution, please let us know!
