The Ahma’s Choice Bundle was named after CEO John-Hans Oei’s beloved grandma. He shared a special bond with his Ahma – ‘grandmother’ in Chinese – who helped raise him and his brothers after their father passed away at a young age, from a rare illness.
Ahma loved her food, both eating and making it for the people around her. While she had high standards for everything she pushed out the kitchen, she was generous with compliments for the food made for her. “She makes very good cakes”, she would say, at one’s first attempt at baking.
When John-Hans first started with a traditional farming business, Ahma warned against growing produce to sell that you would not eat yourself – due to the usage of pesticides. John-Hans, along with his partners, would eventually develop Cultiveat farming tech to grow produce without pesticides. Ahma approved.
Once in a while, she would ask, “Did you sell a lot of vegetables today?”. Upon hearing positive feedback, she would laugh and say “Good, good”. Ahma lived a long and meaningful life till the age of 98. She enjoyed good food and quality company right till the very end.
