This is Ng. People at the farm call him N.G., or Farm Boss.
What does he do? “Erm, everything.”
“I used to do plant tissue culture. That’s when you take a leaf to grow a plant because some plants don’t have seeds – like bananas and pineapples. If you wait for the plant to live its full life cycle and produce a seedling, you’ll have to wait too long for more bananas. That’s why people do plant tissue culturing.
But that was repetitive after a while, so I joined this team.
“There are no jobs out there like this one. We’re the first ones to grow tomatoes and lettuce in lowlands, which is difficult to do cause we don’t have cool weather.”
Ng, Head Grower
We’re also the first ones to use a greenhouse to grow produce at scale.
I’m proud of our farm because it’s high tech and very clean. In Australia, for example, farms are generally very clean. I think this kind of farming and hygiene standard should be the Malaysian standard.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My favourite veggie: Our tomatoes; I eat them like apples.
