“Farmers pick the vegetables; people buy them in pasar. Those were the only things I knew about agriculture. Now I know, it’s way beyond that.”
Meet Mia, Cultiveat’s Account Executive who manages billings, accounts, and…our lunch. As often as you’ll hear her asking, “Do you have the receipt for this?”, you’ll also hear her posing other important queries, “Do you want pan mee today?” and “Who wants bubble tea?”.
All to which we reply with yet another question, “What would we do without you?”.
Endowed with a down-to-earth personality, Mia prefers to be straightforward. “I think that’s how simple communications should be. I enjoy the open-mindedness and transparency here at Cultiveat. Our opinions are always taken into consideration. That makes the job less stressful.”
When she’s not at her desk, Mia enjoys active movement via things like yoga and pilates. She hopes to cultivate a career in the wellness space and talks about opening a cafe serving healthy foods. “Maybe Cultiveat can be my supplier!”, Mia says with a giggle.
“I never imagined being in the agriculture industry. I didn’t like plants and had no plans to learn about them, until I saw all the veggies growing in our farms. So many types, so clean. Everything here is far beyond what I thought about farming. We don’t get to learn this much about fresh produce and food by simply shopping or eating out.”
“My mom loves clean eating and cooks healthy food at home. I’ve developed the same appreciation for good food. It means a lot to be a part of this movement, to change the food people eat.”
Favourite veggie: Stir fried petai with prawn and sambal.
