If you’ve received one of our brown bags with neatly packed produce, or a bouquet of our origami-wrapped, plastic-free packaging, then you would have encountered the handiwork of Caspar, Operations Executive.
He is the man behind all your orders, in charge of ensuring that all items reach you in their best conditions. Who else inspects a tomato like a diamond?
Every morning, Caspar is one of the earliest few to arrive at the headquarters. By 9am, he’s at his computer, checking on the orders for the day. As soon as he plans the routes for deliveries, he processes orders, checks stock, and makes calls to arrange them.
“On a busy day, I only get about a 5-minute break between phone calls,” Caspar shares as he finally gets to sit, after sorting out Christmas Eve orders.
When the office was left vacant during the FMCO, Caspar was one of the few who still had to go in, instead of working from home.
“We had quite a number of orders cancelled by restaurants while the online orders increased, as people stayed home. It was quite a race handling things alone at the office, although I could still work with other teams who were working from home.” Having experienced that, Caspar now values teamwork even more, and currently helps to oversee 3 others who have been added to the team since.
Besides getting acquainted with new teammates, Caspar has also gotten to know the produce very well. “I can now differentiate the veggies and identify their flavours, textures, and lifespans. I can tell immediately when there’s something wrong with a produce. That adds to my quality control skills.”
“I’m not that much of a veggie lover but after trying our own produce, I cannot go back. The ones outside just don’t taste the same. It’s also so cool that we can tailor the size, flavour, and texture according to our clients’ needs.”
Speaking on his ambitions, Caspar talks about how he’s been practising his leadership skills and hopes to join the ranks of management in time to come.
Favourite veggie: Glow Cherry Tomatoes. “I like it raw, on its own! Don’t need to cook.”
